Red Oak (Quercus Rubra)


Status: Secure and available.

Other Common Names: 

Found in Eastern US, these members of the Fagaceae family (Quercus) can grow to 80-115 feet in height and 3-6 feet in diameter. .

Color is light to medium reddish.

Course texture with medium to large pores, machines well and turns well.  Specific Gravity: .56-.73. Avg. Dry Weight:  45 pounds per cubic foot.

Used to make: Furniture, Flooring and turnings.
