Canarywood (Centrolobium Spp.)


Status: Secure and available.

Other Common Names: 

Found in South America, these members of the Fabaceae family (Centrolobium) can grow to 100 feet in height and 2-3 feet in diameter. .

Color varies from pale yellow to orangish and darker reddish brown, usually with streak of each throughout.

Medium texture, machines well and turns well. Some tearout can occur.  Specific Gravity: .65-.79. Avg. Dry Weight:  50 pounds per cubic foot.


Used to make: Fine Furniture, cabinetry, construction.
