Koa (Acacia Koa)


Status: Secure and available.

Other Common Names: 

Found in Hawaii, these members of the Fabaceae family (Acacia) can grow to 65-100 feet in height and 3-5 feet in diameter. .

Color is medium golden brown to reddish brown.

Medium to Course texture, machines well and turns well.  Specific Gravity: .53-.67. Avg. Dry Weight:  42 pounds per cubic foot.

Used to make: Furniture, musical instruments, gunstocks and turnings.
