American Poplar (Liriodendron Tulipifera)


Status: Secure and available.

Other Common Names: Tulip Poplar

Found in Eastern US, these members of the Magniliaceae family (Liriodendron) can grow to 130-160 feet in height and 6-8 feet in diameter. .

Color is pale brown but can have mineral stains.

Medium texture, machines well and turns well.  Specific Gravity: .40-.51. Avg. Dry Weight:  32 pounds per cubic foot.

Used to make: Utility Furniture, Flooring and turnings.
