European Beech (Fagus Sylvatica)
Status: Secure and available.
Other Common Names: Irish Beech, English Beech
Found in Europe, these members of the Fagaceae family (Fagus) can grow to 100-150 feet in height and 3-5 feet in diameter. .
Color is pale cream, but can be somewhat pinkish.
Fine to Medium texture, machines well and turns well. Specific Gravity: .54-.72. Avg. Dry Weight: 45 pounds per cubic foot.
Used to make: Furniture, Cabinetry, Musical Instruments (Piano pinblocks), Carving.
