Mahoe (Talipariti Elatum)


Status: Secure and available.

Other Common Names: Blue Mahoe

Found on Cuba, Jamaica and other Caribbean Islands, these members of the Malvaceae family (Talipariti) can grow to 60-70 feet in height and 1-2 feet in diameter. .

Greyish brown heartwod and pale yellow colored sapwood. Can contain Blues, Purples, and Green streaks as well.

Medium texture, machines well and turns well.  Specific Gravity: .62-.75. Avg. Dry Weight:  47 pounds per cubic foot.

Used to make: Furniture, musical instruments
