Redwood (Sequoia Sempervirens)

Status: Vulnerable (Threatened) and available.

Other Common Names: Sequoia, 

Found on the coastal northwest of the United States into Canada, these members of the Cupressaceae family (Sequoia) can grow to 200-300 feet in height and 6-12 feet in diameter. .

Reddish brown heartwod and cream colored sapwood. Figuring can include Birdseye, fiddleback, and burls.

Medium texture, machines well and turns well, tearout can be an issue.  Specific Gravity: .36-.43. Avg. Dry Weight:  27 pounds per cubic foot.

Used to make: Outdoor Furniture, construction lumber, and specialty items.
