East Indian Rosewood (Dalbergia Latifolia)


Status: Vulnerable (Threatened) and available.

Other Common Names: 

Found in India, these members of the Fabaceae family (Dalbergia) can grow to 100 feet in height and 2-4 feet in diameter. .

Color is golden to purplish brown.

Fine texture, machines well and turns well.  Specific Gravity: .75-.92. Avg. Dry Weight:  57 pounds per cubic foot.

Used to make: Fine Furniture, Musical Instruments and turnings.
